The map is incorrect as the legend states an Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The Golan Heights are not occupied, but was annexed in 1981, so it is a part of Israel as recompense for a failed military war. Doesn't matter if Arab countries want to recognize it or not, it's non-negotiable and after 45 years will never be a part of Syria again.

When I read that the HTS has better night vision gear than Assad's forces and does alternating assaults round the clock, I thought the handwriting might be on the wall for the Baathist regime this time. (I think it may have been Charles Lister reporting that.)

Lots of balls in the air right now. If the incoming US administration successfully shuts down the Russian invasion of Ukraine, some of Putin's military assets may suddenly be available for Assad. At the moment, the military situation is looking favorable for Israel in the near term. The next several months may be more definitive. Definitely not a time to lose focus.
